Sixteen verses are missing from my Bible. Sixteen verses are missing from yours as well. The reason? We as a church ignore them, as if by ignoring them they will cease to exist.
But is it right to ignore the word of God? Isn’t that what we accuse others of doing when they turn a blind eye towards baptism?
At the very best we’re being hypocritical; at the very worst, we’re treading God’s law beneath our feet in our haste to disobey.
If obedience is our desire, then it is important to look at First Corinthians 11 and to understand what God wants us to do, no matter what that may be. We may look and find that God places no requirements on us there. Or we may find that not only are there requirements, but they are of such that they will draw criticism from our friends and family. Regardless, we must not ignore these verses. We must look.
